TSMC Manufactures 3G Chip for Spreadtrum

According to a recent report in the Taiwanese newspaper Economic Daily News, TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) has developed a 3G mobile phone chip for the Chinese company Spreadtrum Communications using 0.18 micron technology. Mobile phones carrying the chip have finished testing, but Spreadtrum needs to await licensing from the Chinese government before it can start mass production.
